Colloquium on “The phenomenotechnics of time in 2022”, October 27-28, 2022, at the MSHE Ledoux and UFR SLHS, grand salon in Besançon.
This symposium is organized by Sarah Carvallo (Logiques de l’Agir laboratory), Clément Lacroûte (CNRS, FEMTO-ST Institute) and François Vernotte (FEMTO-ST Institute) as part of the FabTemps action carried out by Sarah Carvallo at the MSHE Ledoux.
FIRST-TF General Assembly 2022: 04 and 05 October 2022 – Besançon
The FIRST-TF General Assembly will take place this year on October 04 and 05, 2022 in Besançon, at the ENSMM site.
This will be an important moment of exchange between laboratories, industries, technical centers and agencies, and the institutions that contribute to the life of the FIRST-TF network. This general assembly will be an opportunity to present the results of projects supported by FIRST-TF and to discuss specific topics. At the end of the first day, we will meet for dinner at a restaurant downtown Besançon, Bistrot La Charette.

Zhibin Yao’s thesis defense – September 5, 2022 at 14:00 in Amphi Durand (Campus Pierre et Marie Curie)
Zhibin Yao will defend his thesis on September 5, 2022 at 14:00, entitled “Atom interferometry with Bose-Einstein Condensate: Toward a determination of fine structure constant”, prepared at the Sorbonne University and under the direction of Saïda Guellati-Khélifa at LKB.
The defense will be in English and will take place in Amphi Durand (Campus Pierre et Marie Curie). The defense will be also streamed on Zoom : Zhibin Yao_PhD_Defense_“Atom interferometry with Bose-Einstein Condensate: Toward a determination of fine structure constant”

2022 FIRST-TF General Assembly – Besançon: Registrations are now open!
The FIRST-TF General Assembly will take place on October 04 and 05, 2022 in Besançon at the ENSMM site.
Participation at the General Assembly is free but registration is mandatory. Please, register before September 05, 2022: Register for the FIRST-TF 2022 GA here.

International Conference on “Quantum sensors and tests of new physics” October 5th-7th 2022 in Hotel Wienecke XI, Hannover (Germany).
The conference is organized and funded by the Collaborative Research Center DQ-mat and the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Frontiers. Participation is free of charge. As the number of participants is limited, available places will be allocated by a scientific committee on the basis of the submitted abstracts. Registration deadline is June 30th.

Sylvain Ballandras laureate of the 2022 Cady Award
The Cady Award 2022 goes to Dr. Sylvain Ballandras, ”For outstanding contributions to the modeling and development of crystal resonators and sensors.”
The W. G. Cady Award is to recognize outstanding contributions related to the fields of piezoelectric or other classical frequency control, selection and measurement; and resonant sensor devices.
Sébastien Bize laureate of the 2022 European Frequency and Time Award of the European Frequency and Time Forum
The EFTF Award 2022 goes to Dr. Sébastien Bize, “For outstanding contributions to the development of microwave and optical frequency standards for tests of fundamental physics and the realization of the SI second.”
The European Frequency and Time Award recognizes outstanding contributions in all fields covered by the EFTF.
Shuo Zhang’s thesis defense – April 13, 2022 at 9h30 a.m.
Shuo Zhang will defend her thesis on April 13th, 2022 at 9:30 a.m., entitled: “Spectral Hole Burning for Ultra-stable Lasers”, prepared at the University of Paris Sciences et Lettres in collaboration with the SYRTE and under the supervision of Yann Le Coq, Bess Fang-Sortais and Signe Seidelin.
